Studio Senja opened in 2020 with one rule: take on fewer projects and give each one the attention a home deserves.
Our story
From rushed show units to rooms made for real life
Alia Rahman spent eight years designing show units for a large design-and-build firm, where every project was a sprint and every living room looked like the last one.
In 2020 she leased the floor above a picture framer on Jalan Kiara Hening and opened Studio Senja, named for the hour of the evening when the light goes soft. The studio is now three people, and the sample library fills an entire wall.
The rules set on day one still stand: materials are chosen by touch before anything is drawn, and the designer who starts your home is the one who hands it back.
How we work
What quiet design means here
Quiet is not a colour scheme. It is a room where everything has a reason to be there, and nothing asks for attention it has not earned. We remove before we add, and we would rather leave a wall empty than fill it out of habit.
Materials come first. We study how the light moves through your home across a day, then match timber, fabric and stone under that same light. Samples travel to your house, not the other way around.
During the build, someone from the studio walks your site every week and sends photographs the same day. Small problems get caught while they are still small, and you always know exactly where your home stands.
