About us
The tuition centre that started at a dining table
Studyline began in 2018 with one teacher, six students and a dining table in Taman Segar. The table is gone. The way we teach has not changed.
Since 2018
Small on purpose, from day one
Lim Bee Kuan taught mathematics in a Cheras secondary school for eleven years. The students who slipped behind were rarely lazy, she found. They were sitting in classes of forty, too shy to say they were lost. So in 2018 she started teaching six of them around her own dining table.
Word spread the way it does in Cheras, one mother to another. Today Studyline runs three classrooms on Jalan Cerdik with nine full time tutors, and every class is still capped at eight students. That number is the whole point. It is small enough that nobody gets to disappear.

The three rules every Studyline class runs on
Our tutors bring different styles and subjects. These three rules are not negotiable, whoever is holding the marker.
Nobody gets to disappear
Eight students means every child is asked a question in every class. Quiet students are drawn out gently, not left alone because the loud ones answer faster.
Parents hear the truth weekly
Every Thursday you get a short WhatsApp note: what we covered, one thing that went well, one thing to practise. If a child is struggling, you hear it from us first, early, while there is still time to fix it.
Practice beats pep talks
Confidence in an exam hall comes from having done the paper before, many times, under time. We drill past year questions from the first month, not the last.
The people at the whiteboard
Nine tutors teach at Studyline. Alongside Ms Lim, these three programme leads train every tutor who joins.
Amirul Hakim
Head of sciences
Physics and Chemistry lead for the SPM years. Makes students sketch every concept before they are allowed to memorise a single formula.
Priya Manogaran
English programme lead
Runs English across primary and secondary. Gets reluctant readers writing by letting them argue about football and food in full paragraphs first.
Chong Wei Jian
Primary programme lead
Teaches Standard 4 to 6 Mathematics and Science. Patient with wobbly fundamentals, and the first tutor most new students stop being shy with.
Eight students means the tutor actually hears my daughter. Her school teacher asked what changed by the middle of term.
Come and see a class in action
Drop by on a weekday afternoon, watch how a class of eight runs, and ask Ms Lim anything. Parents are welcome any time.
